SLO4Home Summer Soirée Raises $50K to Support Refugee Families

SLO4Home’s summer soirée was a success, raising more than $50,000! Several of the families we serve donated delicious desserts for the auction showcasing favorite recipes from home helping to raise over $5000. It was especially wonderful to see the children from several SLO4Home families enjoying themselves.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors 35 refugees including eight young children have been supported to date and we look forward to welcoming future families. With the support SLO4Home provides, refugees are given a stable foundation to become independent and contributing members of the community. If you missed the Soirée you can still support families by donating here.

Families like the recently arrived Hassanzadas simply want to know their children will grow up safe. Parents “Ahmad” and “Amina” have been waiting for permanent resettlement for years along with their 10, 8 and 2 year old children. Long after leaving Afghanistan they can finally work on rebuilding their lives here on the Central Coast. Housing makes up almost 75% of SLO4Home’s direct expenses and is the area of greatest need for families. Continued donations will directly support safe housing for this family and more arriving next year!
