On January 16th the Diversity Coalition will be featuring former SLO for Home clients Nour and Rawan Makhoul as they share their inspiring journey from Syria to their new lives right here in San Luis Obispo. Nour and Rawan, along with their parents, received intensive support from SLO for Home when they first arrived in the United States and we are honored to be part of their story. The family now lives independently in San Luis Obispo where they’ve built new lives while maintaining hope for those left behind. Today Nour is a college student and Rawan is moving towards regaining her pharmacist’s license and working as a pharmacy technician to support her family. They are a testament to perseverance and what can be achieved when vulnerable people are welcomed by their new communities.
